Charles Kushner, the father of American President Donald Trump, was confirmed by the US Senate as US ambassador to France, according to Reuters, quoted by News.ro.
The decision, notes Reuters, is not a surprise, given that Trump's Republicans control both rooms of Congress. However, there was a Republican who opposed the appointment, Alaska Lisa Murkowski senator.
Senator Cory Booker, who represents the native state of Charles Kushner, New Jersey, was the only Democrat that joined the Republicans in approving the appointment, with a 51 to 45 vote.
Charles Kushner was pardoned in 2020 by Trump. He was incarcerated for two years, being accused of fiscal fraud and false testimony in front of a federal commission, accusations that he pleaded guilty.

Charles is the founder of Kushner Companies, a real estate company. His son Jared, he is a former main counselor of Trump at the White House and is married to Donald Trump's eldest daughter, Ivanka. When he announced his intention to nominate on Charles Kushner for the position of Amabsador, in November 2024, Trump called him “a business leader, philanthropist and extraordinary negotiator,” writes ABC News.
