The man, a businessman from Buzău county, was sent to court after illegally built a concrete dam, on the Bâsca Chiojd stream, near a pension. Then, he populated the lake formed after changing the course of the water with trout, transmitted on Tuesday the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Ploiesti Court of Appeal, quoted by News.ro.
According to the prosecutors, during the months of April and June-August 2023, the man ordered the execution of works on the course of the Bâsca Chiojdului stream in Buzău county, without legal opinion from the basin of Buzau-Ialomiţa.
He built a concrete dam, consolidated with a wall from Busteni, located under the access bridge from the parking lot to the “La Cascada” pension held by him and his wife in Chiojdu commune.
The construction of the dam “led to the formation in the minor river of an artificial lake, the water of the stream naturally with the same flow and flow rate downstream, but only with a low flow”, the prosecutor's office next to the Ploieşti Court of Appeal shows.
Then the businessman populated the lake created with fish.
“Starting with July-August 2023, the defendant used the area in which the artificial lake of the minor riverbed of the Bâsca Chiojd stream was formed, without authorization to manage the water from the Buzau-Ielomiţa water basin administration, initially, introducing fish species in that artificial lake,”
The businessman will be judged in freedom for offenses regarding the violation of the water law, risking imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years.
