The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, also congratulated Nicușor Dan for his victory in the presidential elections in Romania, noting that the Romanian people presented “massif at the ballot box” at the Sunday poll.

“The hottest congratulations to Nicușor Dan for his victory tonight! The Romanian people went massively at the ballot box. They chose the promise of an open, prosperous Romania, in a powerful Europe,” wrote the head of the European Commission, in a message published on the social network X Sunday night.

“Together, let's respect this promise. I look forward to working with you,” added Ursula von der Leyen, according to Agerpres.

The independent candidate Nicușor Dan obtained 6,104,979 votes (53.78%), at the second round of presidential elections, shows the published data, on Sunday night, by the Permanent Electoral Authority, after the centralization of 20,037 minutes (99.76%) of the total of 20.085.

George Simion, the candidate of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, obtained 5,247,092 votes, representing 46.22%.

Maia Sandu and Donald Tusk also congratulated Nicuşor Dan.

Tusk, a message transmitted in Romanian, English and Polish: “Live Free Romania!”

The Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, also sent congratulations to the winner of the presidential elections in Romania, Nicușor Dan.

“Congratulations Nicușor Dan! Live Free Romania!” The Polish politician, the leader of the Civic Platform (center-right), wrote in Romanian, English and Polish, on his account on the social network X.

Metsola: Romania will become stronger and will continue to model our Europe

For her part, the president of the European Parliament (EP), Roberta Metsola, also congratulated Nicușor Dan after his victory in Sunday's poll.

“Congratulations, Nicușor Dan! I know that, under your leadership, Romania will become stronger and will continue to model our Europe. I look forward to collaborating for a smarter, stronger and safer Europe,” Metsola wrote in Romanian and English.

Antonio Costa: “From the City Hall to the European Council table”

The president of the European Council, Antonio Costa, sees in the victory of Nicușor Dan “a clear signal of the commitment of Romanians towards the European project”.

“From the City Hall to the meal of the European Council,” commented Costa Victoria of the former mayor of Bucharest, expressing his desire to work with Dan “for a better Europe and Romania,” according to the Spanish press agency EFE.

Pedro Sanchez: “Romania and the EU wins. The far right loses”

The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, also congratulated Nicușor Dan for his victory, saying that Romania and the EU won, and “the far right lost”.

“I look forward to starting to work together in the European Council,” the Spanish official, a member of the Spanish Labor Socialist Party (PSOE) wrote.
