The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, also congratulated Nicușor Dan for his victory in the presidential elections in Romania, noting that the Romanian people presented “massif at the ballot box” at the Sunday poll.
“The hottest congratulations to Nicușor Dan for his victory tonight! The Romanian people went massively at the ballot box. They chose the promise of an open, prosperous Romania, in a powerful Europe,” wrote the head of the European Commission, in a message published on the social network X Sunday night.

The independent candidate Nicușor Dan obtained 6,104,979 votes (53.78%), at the second round of presidential elections, shows the published data, on Sunday night, by the Permanent Electoral Authority, after the centralization of 20,037 minutes (99.76%) of the total of 20.085.
George Simion, the candidate of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, obtained 5,247,092 votes, representing 46.22%.

For her part, the president of the European Parliament (EP), Roberta Metsola, also congratulated Nicușor Dan after his victory in Sunday's poll.

Pedro Sanchez: “Romania and the EU wins. The far right loses”
The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, also congratulated Nicușor Dan for his victory, saying that Romania and the EU won, and “the far right lost”.
