On Friday, Tusk took part in the peak of the European Political Community (EPC) in Tirana. The Elysee Palace reported that during the Plenary Session of the EPC Summit, shortly after the end of Russian -Ukrainian talks in Istanbul, Polish and Great Britain Prime Minister – Donald Tusk and Keir Starmer, presidents of France and Ukraine – Emmanuel Macron and Wołodyyr Zełenski and the German Chancellor Friedrich US President Donald Trump. As reported by the Ukrainian side, the conversation concerned Russian-Ukrainian peace conversations.

On Friday in Istanbul, the first in three years direct conversations between the delegation of Ukraine and Russia took place, under the leadership of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Hakana Fidan. The leader of the Ukrainian delegation was the Minister of Defense Rust, and Russian – Vladimir Miedinski, adviser to Vladimir Putin.

The Reuters agency said, citing sources that the meeting ended after less than two hours. The source in Ukrainian diplomacy, cited by the Reuters agency, said that the demands presented on Friday by the Russian delegation of the Ukrainian side in Istanbul are unrealistic and go beyond everything that has been discussed so far.

The source stated that the Russian delegation demands that Ukraine withdraw its armed forces from part of its own territory to lead to the suspension of weapons.

Some Russian media, e.g. the RIA NOWOSTI agency, wrote that a break was announced in conversations. The Ukrainian suspicion sender stated that delegations remain in the building where the talks lasted. (PAP)
