The Gendarmerie of the Capital announced that on Friday, from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, a public assembly will take place in Victoriei Square in Bucharest, “aimed at the election campaign for the presidential elections of 2025 of the candidate Nicușor”. Nicușor Dan's communication team has transmitted, for Hotnews, that he has no information about this event, but that he will check and return with an answer.
The Bucharest Gendarmerie said on Thursday that “it will take measures to ensure a safety climate at the capital level, respectively to ensure the public order and the protection of the participants in the public meeting” that will be held on Friday, between 16:00-22: 00, in Victoriei Square.
The same institution specifies that the Public Assembly aims to “the election campaign for the presidential elections of 2025 of the candidate Nicușor Daniel Dan”.
The gendarmerie mentions that the event has all the necessary approvals, but does not specify who is the organizer of the event.
“The organizer informs that, at the public meeting, only flags, coat of arms, symbols of Romania, European Union and NATO will be accepted,” according to the Gendarmerie.
Hotnews has contacted Nicușor Dan's campaign team, to find out if the current general mayor is the organizer of the action. The representatives of the presidential candidate have transmitted that they have no information for this event, but that they will check and return with an answer. When and if we receive more details from Nicușor Dan's team, we will come back.
The announcement of the Gendarmerie about this event comes in the context in which George Simion accused Nicușor Dan on Wednesday of “authorized a meeting during the electoral period, a meeting in Victoriei Square”, but without saying what the event is about.
“However, if he still has a drama of responsibility, please cancel this manifestation that is announced to be a violence, one against democracy and the Romanian people. Let the Romanians vote, clean, free and the will of the Romanian people will become law,” said Simion on Wednesday.
