Day in the history of the EAO: the opening of the State Jewish Theater in Birobidzhan

May 11, 1934

In the newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) of 1935, information was published that on May 11, 1934 the opening of the State Jewish Theater (Goset) was held. At the opening of the theater, the production “Evening Aleichem” (0+) was shown. The team arrived on the shores of Bira in May 1934 with an already established repertoire.

The theater was born simultaneously with the formation of EAO. In a young area, he became a major factor in the development of national culture. The first director of the theater was appointed Emmanuel Kazakevich. During the period of work in the theater, a team of qualified actors was created. By the beginning of the 40s, the state was the center of the cultural life of the region.

In 1937, M. Goldblat became the head of the theater. His name is associated with the most creative period of the life of the theater.

The theater met the first days of the war on tour in Khabarovsk, and then in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. During the war, the theater had to work in difficult conditions. In 1943, inspired by the victories of the Red Army, the theater team held funds for the construction of a tank column.

At the end of 1947, a directive came from Moscow – to transfer the theater to an economic calculation. On October 28, the Russian branch of the theater opened.

On December 7, 1948, the premiere of the performance was held based on the play of A. Ostrovsky, Talents and Fans (12+). In addition to performances, only in 1948 the theater artists prepared 213 concerts and performed with them in the regions of the region.

On the morning of November 5, 1949, a telegram was delivered to the theater with the Government vulture. It reported that “the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR, taking into account the proposals for art matters, decided to close the state theater as unprofitable in Birobidzhan …”.

In December 1949, the Birobidzhan State Jewish Theater ceased to exist.

In the book of D. Weyserman “Birobidzhan: Dreams and Tragedy” (12+), information was posted that on May 11, 1944, the next telegram is leaving the chairman of the regional executive committee of Mikhail Zilrsern in New York:

“The regional executive committee of the EAO on behalf of the working region on the day of its decade sends you and in your face to all members of the Ambzhan society of his hot greetings. We express hot gratitude for your readiness to take an active part in the patriotic case of orphans, for your expressed desires and equipment of craft schools. The celebration of the decent of the EAO-bright The evidence that the Jewish people live and struggle with all the freedom-loving peoples of democratic countries.

On May 11, 1948, the Birobidzhan Zvezda newspaper reported to readers that the reporting and election meeting of Birobidzhan writers was held in Birobidzhan. The secretary of the organization B. Miller reported for eight years of the writer's organization. B. Miller called the well -known names of the writers of our region who showed samples of courage and valor in the battles of the Great Patriotic War.

The secretary of the Khabarovsk branch of the Union of Soviet Writers Comrade Rogal participated in the work of the meeting. Comrade Rogal informed the meeting that the Bureau of the Khabarovsk Branch of the Union of Soviet Writers decided to have not a writer's group in Birobidzhan, but the unification of the writers who would be led by the Bureau. The bureaus was elected by secret vote: the secretary of the writers' association – H.I. Maltinsky, deputy secretary – G. B. Rabinkov and B. S. Miller.

May 11, 1966

The Bureau of the Regional Committee of the CPSU during the All -Union Festival of Amateur Arts and the View of Children's Technical Creativity outlined regional and city reviews of children's technical creativity (0+), the regional festival of amateur art (0+).

The issue “On the leadership of the Smidovic district committee of the CPSU of cultural and educational work among students.” The adopted resolution outlines measures for the active participation of clubs, red corners, libraries and film installations in preparation for the 50th anniversary of Soviet power, in the All-Russian shock of amateur performances (0+).

May 11, 1974

A solemn meeting of the Regional Committee of the CPSU and the Regional Council of Workers' Deputies, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the education of the Jewish Autonomous Region, took place.

The report “40 years of the Jewish Autonomous Region” was made by the first secretary of the regional committee of the CPSU L. B. Shapiro. He noted that the 40th anniversary of the region, the heyday of its economy and culture is one of the vivid manifestations of the triumph of the Leninist national policy of the CPSU, the indestructible friendship and fraternal cooperation of socialist nations and nationalities.

Participants in the solemn meeting sent a welcome letter to the CPSU Central Committee, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

The boarding house of small capacity for elderly citizens and disabled people in the village of Birofeld Birobidzhan district began work. The social institution has 34 living rooms and 48 beds. The boarding house has its own kitchen, dining room, laundry, rooms for doctors and service staff.
