The rainfall was so strong that the Kasaba River appeared in the Fizi district from Brzegów, and the waters of Lake Tanganyika spilled into nearby villages.

The eastern regions of DRK are struggling with violence caused by fights between government troops and rebels, among which the most numerous group is the M23 group, which, supported by the neighboring Rwanda, mastered large areas of two provinces, North Kiw and the South Kiw.

Tanganyka Lake, located south of the theater of these fights, was adopted by tens of thousands of refugees from the North. Many of them took refuge in private homes, churches and schools, damaged or destroyed by the Friday flood.

Somalia under water. Women and children were killed

At least seven people, including two women and two children, died in the capital of Somalia, Mogadiszu after heavy rains caused floods in two districts of the city on Friday to Saturday.

– The number of fatalities may increase because the rains were heavy and lasted several hours, causing nine houses in various districts and serious damage to at least six main roads – said on Saturday the spokesman for regional administration, Abdinasir Hirsi Idle, in an interview with the Associated Press agency.

Flood waters also damaged the key infrastructure, suspending public transport and temporarily disrupting the activities of the main airport, the International Airport named after Aden Abdulle. Later, officials confirmed that the flights were resumed.

Friday rains lasted about eight hours, and the water in some parts of the city reached the belt. The reason for such violent flooding of the streets was a full drainage system that does not keep up with the growing population of the capital.
