Bomb on wheels: Driver caught smoking at the wheel of a liquid nitrogen tank

The driver of a cistern carrying liquid nitrogen was surprised by smoking in the cabin, after the police stopped him in traffic to exceed the speed limit by 32 km/h, during the action of Truck & Bus, part of the Roadpol operations plan, the County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) announced on Thursday.
“Within the operation, the police found the driver of a set of vehicles carrying dangerous goods (liquid nitrogen), after it had exceeded 32 km/h the legal speed limit on the respective segment, also not observing the obligations to wear the seat belt and not to smoke in the cabin. IPJ Mureș, in a press release, according to Agerpres.
Also, according to the quoted source, three trucks belonging to the same transport companies, none of them having the RCA insurance policy were stopped.
“All were immobilized, being withdrawn the registration certificates and the plates with the registration numbers are withheld, and the sanctions thus applied amounted to a total of 3,000 lei,” said IPJ Mureș.
During the action, the police also detected in traffic, on DN13 E60, in the town of Mihai Viteazu, a vehicle while transporting people, to Sălaj County, and according to the checks, he did not have a compliant copy of the transport license.
“The immobilization of the auvechicul and the contraventional sanction with the fine of 6,000 lei was ordered, the continuation of the transport being provided by the membership company, through another vehicle,” said IPJ Mureș.
The Truck & Bus action aims to reduce the risk of road accidents, by verifying compliance with the legal rules on public roads by road transport operators and drivers for public transport of persons and goods.
Since the start of the actions, the police have checked about 200 trucks and over 35 buses or other means of transport, over 160 drivers being tested on the possible alcohol consumption or other substances with the equipment equipped.
“In total, 60 sanctions were applied, in the amount of over 45,100 lei, of which 19 for non -observance of the legal speed limits, 17 for non -observance of the obligation to wear the seat belt, 4 for irregularities aimed at the technical status of the vehicles, 2 for the lack of RCA policy, 1 for irregularities at the tachograph, and the rest for other deviations”.
