“The world cannot afford a military confrontation” between India and Pakistan, the UN Secretary General's spokesman said on Tuesday after New Delhi launched military blows against Pakistan, who replied, AFP reports.

Antonio Getterres, the head of the UN, “calls for both countries to military restraint,” added Stéphane Dujarric spokesman in a statement, according to Agerpres.

The Secretary General of the United Nations has been concerned about the tensions between India and Pakistan for months, saying that they have reached the “highest level in recent years” and asked them to “move away from the precipice”.

“It is essential, especially at this critical time, to avoid a military confrontation that could become easily uncontrollable. The time has come for maximum restraint and removal of the precipice,” said Antonio Getterres to the press.

“I understand the strong emotions after the horrible terrorist attack” on April 22 on the part of Kașmir administered by India, he commented, once again condemning this attack and asking for those responsible to be brought to justice.

India attributes to Islamabad the responsibility for this attack, in which 26 civilians were killed, an attack that was not claimed and in which Pakistan denies any involvement.

India launched, during Tuesday night, on Wednesday, rocket blows against nine goals that host “terrorist infrastructures” located on the territory of Pakistan, as a respond to the attack on April 22.

According to a military official, quoted by Reuters, at least three people were killed and 12 others injured, according to a provisional balance.

The Indian army stated that it aimed nine “facilities” in the operation “Sindoor”.

No “Pakistani military facility has been targeted,” the Indian army added.

“India has shown a considerable restraint in choosing the targets and the method of execution,” the Indian army said.

Both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers.
