Banking analysts have found how often the Siberians make unplanned purchases

29 % of Siberia residents make spontaneous purchases several times a week, and 42 % do this once a week. And every fifth confessed to unplanned travel expenses and restaurants. Such data were obtained during a VTB survey to study the consumer habits of Russians.
37 % regret that they rashly bought clothes, shoes or accessories. This is one of the lowest indicators among federal districts, 49 % of respondents regret such purchases around the country. But the costs of unnecessary subscriptions and online services in the Siberians, on the contrary, are much higher (32 %) than in Russia as a whole (23 %).
Every fifth confessed to spontaneous travel expenses and restaurants: 21 % of Siberians against 15 % on average in the country. Consumers are more suitable for spending on gadgets and equipment – only 7% included them in the list of impulsive acquisitions.

Most of the impulsive purchases, which the Siberians later regret, fit in the amount of 1 thousand to 15 thousand rubles – 85 % of respondents recognized such expenses. The higher share of those who make spontaneous purchases in the amount of 5 thousand to 15 thousand rubles in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region-37 %.
Control of expenses remains an important task for most respondents. 65 % strive to control their expenses, but this does not always succeed. Half of the Russians is a list before going to the store. Another 38 % put off the purchase for several days to think about its need, and 26 % set the limit on expenses and adhere to it.
“Now people have learned to find a balance between reasonable expenses and the opportunity to delight themselves: small impulsive purchases remain an effective way to relieve stress or note success,” said Rostislav Yanykin, head of the transactional retail business, senior vice president of VTB.
According to the expert, expenses can become conscious and profitable if in the selected bank to choose the categories of the loyalty program in advance and then receive cashback.
*The survey was conducted from April 4 to 10, according to a representative sample among 1,500 Russians aged 18 to 65 years in cities with a population of more than 100 thousand people.
