Alarming EU report regarding drought. The problem is especially for Poland and Ukraine

In the new report, the joint research center of the European Commission (JRC) states that Drought begins to spread to almost all areas of the continent and there are no signs of improving the situation.

“In Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, as well as in the eastern part of the Mediterranean region, spreading drought at the warning level is observed. Similar conditions appear in north-west Europe”-wrote in the report. The “warning” stage is the second of the three stages of the drought development used by the European Observatory Susza JRC.
According to the latest observatory data, in the EU only the Iberian Peninsula, southern France and most Italy have avoided drought so far. On the other hand, part of Cyprus, Greece and the Balkans, as well as Türkiye have reached the red “alarm” stage.
Forecasts for the coming months indicate higher than usual temperatures until July, scientists say. Precipitation forecasts are less clear, although some of them indicate more dry conditions in a large part of northern Europe, including in Great Britain, part of Germany and Benelux countries, as the JRC report notes.
Although other factors, such as improper water management, contribute to drought, it is expected that as a result of climate change, drought will occur in Europe more and more often and will be more and more intense.
