The first round of the presidential elections in Romania takes place on Sunday, May 4. 11 candidates will participate in this year's poll, the first two will enter the second round, scheduled for May 18. On May 4 and 18, Romanians with voting rights are called to the ballot box to choose their new president. The polling stations are open between 7:00 – 21:00

Nearly 400,000 votes expressed abroad, until Saturday night!
On Saturday, shortly after 6:00 pm 300,000 votes were ticked abroad. Compared to the elections of November 24, on Saturday at 6:00 pm, 161,653 Romanians had voted abroad.
Most voted men (over 162,000) and over 136,000 women. The most active age category being 45-64 years. Most votes being registered in London (UK), Chisinau (Republic of Moldova) Heilbronn, Mannheim and Villingen-Schwenningen (all from Germany)
114,422 people voted in the sections abroad, within the election for the president's election, on Friday. To these are added 4,106 voters on correspondence lists.

Romanian citizens with domicile or residence in Romania must be presented with one of the following identity documents on the day of voting:

Klaus Iohannis (65 years old) resigned from the position of President of Romania on the 10th. Iohannis held the position of president of Romania on December 21, 2014. Unprecedented Decision: CCR annulled Tour 1 of 2024 presidential elections
On December 6, the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) canceled the 1st tour of the presidential elections. “It cancels the entire electoral process regarding the election of the President of Romania,” said in the text of the law.
