The left candidate for president Magdalena Biejat argued on Sunday in Legnica that you cannot save on health care and you must finally ensure proper healthcare financing. She reminded that she was against lowering the health premium for entrepreneurs.

At the end of April, the Senate supported the amendment to the Act on healthcare services financed from public funds reducing the health contribution for entrepreneurs from 2026. The amendment is associated with a loss of revenues from the contribution to the National Health Fund in the amount of approx. PLN 4.6 billion, which the government declares coverage from the state budget. The novella is currently waiting for the president's decision.
Biejat at a Sunday conference in Legnica emphasized that she was opposed to “all made on a madman, on the occasion of an election campaign, for the public, with so -called reforms”, creating – as she assessed – “next breaks in the state budget in the area of health protection.”
She added that “a proposal made by Szymon Hołownia with the support of the Civic Coalition”, reducing the health premium for entrepreneurs, does not serve “proverbial shoemakers, hairdressers or dressmakers.” In her opinion, “serves primarily to those who earn well, to those who may run their own lawyer's company or are the president of the bank on B2B on a sole proprietorship.
The Senate Deputy Marshal argued that in order to improve the quality of treatment and healthcare in Poland, you could not save on health care. She emphasized that the left wants a health reform that would change the financing system in such a way that she said – as she said – just and honest. As she said, the point is that “this system would allow you to cover the hole in the health care system, but at the same time it was adapted to the needs and possibility of paying each of you.” “In order to stop based primarily on the shoulders of ordinary employees, and began to rely on true social solidarity, in which large corporations must contribute jointly and severally, as you have to contribute to this system solidarity,” she calculated. As she said, the left's proposal assumes, among others, the introduction of a health tax that will charge great companies.
The Sejm was reduced to the health contribution for entrepreneurs on April 4 with the voices of KO, Poland 2050-TD and PSL-TD. Against former PiS, left and circle deputies. The confederation abstained.
Andrzej Duda announced that he would ask the Social Dialogue Council for an opinion on the act reducing the health premium for entrepreneurs; The president's meeting with RDS is to take place on May 5 at the Presidential Palace.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk, in turn, announced that if the president vetos the changes in the health premium, he would take steps as the prime minister to return to this topic after the presidential election.
Series violence against medical staff. Biejat comments
Biejat also spoke on Sunday about the last cases of violence against medical staff, which – as she assessed – require decisive condemnation. According to the Left candidate, staff protection should be improved in healthcare and report and analyze the case of aggression more accurately. “But it is also clear that such violence does not come from nowhere. If we want to counteract it, then we must understand its causes. And violence is born of aggression and frustration. And frustration is born of the terrible conditions of health protection. From the extending queues. From the extending queues. From too little number of staff on duty, in hospitals and in the clinic. hospitals, clinics, health care facilities, “she said.
On Tuesday, a 35-year-old man burst into the office at the University Hospital in Krakow, in which the doctor examined the patient and attacked the medic with a knife. Despite the efforts of the orthopedic medical staff, Tomasz Solecki died. The director of the facility Marcin Jędrychowski announced that the attacker was a patient dissatisfied with the course of treatment. As the head of the Ministry of Justice Adam Bodnar later said, the perpetrator was an officer of the prison service. The investigation into the murder of an orthopedist was initiated on Tuesday by the Kraków-Podgórze District Prosecutor's Office; On Wednesday, the 35-year-old suspected of killing a doctor was arrested.
In connection with the murder, Prime Minister Donald Tusk was given by the General Director of the Prison Service Colonel Andrzej Pecka; On the same day, the head of government dismissed him from his function. (PAP)
