Ukraine has destroyed a Russian Suhoi Su-30 hunting plane using a rocket launched from a maritime drone, that is, a crew ship, said Ukrainian Gur information service, who claims it is for the first time that a fighter plane is shot down by such a drone, reports Reuters.

In a post on the Gur Social Media account, it is said that the hunting plane was shot down by a unit entitled Group 13, on Friday, off the city of Novorossis, an important Russian port on the Black Sea.

Overcoming numerically and from the point of view of the fires by the Russian enemy, Ukraine resorted to the war with drones in the air and at sea as an effective way to respond to the attacks suffered in the three years of war.

Ukraine's naval drones, which are much cheaper than conventional ships, have caused large damages to the Black Sea of Russia.

In December 2024, Ukraine had announced that it had shot down a military helicopter using a rocket launched from the same type of maritime drone. Gur sent on his Telegram channel that a magura V5 maritime drone equipped with a Russian Russian helicopter in a confrontation that took place near Cape Tarhakut, on the western coast of Crimea.

The military intelligence service said this was the first time a Ukrainian naval drone brought down an air target.
