The Archdiocese of Argeș and Muscel is the one that carries out the two very important projects for the value of the two historical monuments of national importance.

Built between 1515-1517 by the ruler Neagoe Basarab, the Curtea de Argeș Monastery is one of the most famous places of worship in our country, visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists in the country and abroad.

“Over 80% of the outer scene for the restoration has been mounted. Until the external scaffolding is completely mounted and a provisional roof over the towers, the restoration cannot begin. Then works on the wooden structure of the monastery will be done.says the representatives of the Archdiocese of Argeș and Muscel.

Outside the royal tombs, the relics of Saint Philofteia are also at the Curtea de Argeș Monastery. In 1866 and 1867, the paraclis and the entrance tower were destroyed by two fires, but, at the initiative of King Carol I, the monastery was restored since 1875 by the French architect Lecomte du Noüy, the original fresco being replaced with a new painting. The restoration of the monastery lasted a total of 11 years.
