The head of Pentagon Pete HegeSth announces a radical transformation of the US land forces (US Army), assuming, among others Departure from outdated systems and focusing on unmanned systems at the expense of helicopters – Breaking Defense said on Thursday. Older Apache helicopters are to be withdrawn.

As HegeSeth wrote in the internal Memorandum published by the Breaking Defense portal, changes regarding the greatest type of American armed forces are to create “slimmer, more deadly forces” and to do this must “transform at an accelerated pace, getting rid of outdated, unnecessary and ineffective programs, as well as restructuring shopping. “
Among the changes ordered by HegeStha is the equipment of all divisions with unmanned systems, enabling “command -based control and control”, or increasing the use of 3D printers for the production of equipment, in which military units are to be equipped. HegeSeth also wants to end the acquisition of “outdated systems”, including overtime HMMWV vehicles, outdated Gray Eagle drones and helicopters.
The head of the Pentagon demands the restructuring of the formation of assault helicopters and supplementing them with “inexpensive swarms of drones capable of overwhelming opponents.” As Alex Miller told journalists, the chief technology officer at the Staff of the US Army commander, this means getting rid of the US, among others older versions of APACHE AH-64D helicopters. As Breaking Defense points out, it is not clear whether they will be replaced by the latest version of AH-64E. 96 of these latest machines were ordered by Poland.
As Gen. Randy George, commander of the US Army commanded by the portal, said, the withdrawal of older helicopters “will really increase operational readiness” due to the cost of maintaining the AH-64D.
The US will also give up further purchases of Humvee (HMMWV) and JLTV. They will also not acquire newly developed M10 Booker light tanks, whose first copies went to the army last year.
