Donald Trump threatens secondary sanctions to buyers from Iran

“All purchases of Iranian oil or petrochemical products must be suspended immediately!” – Trump wrote on the Truth Social social networking site. Everyone who “buys any amount of oil (…) from Iran will be subject to immediate secondary sanctions. They will not be allowed to conduct interests with the United States of America in any form,” he warned.
China is the largest recipient of Iranian oil
AP reminded that the data published last fall by institutions monitoring the movement of tankers show that the recipient of “90 percent of Iranian oil” was in 2023 China.
In February, Trump restored the “maximum pressure” campaign to Iran, which aims to lead to the complete arrest of Iranian oil exports, which would lead to the resignation of Tehran from the structure of nuclear weapons.
The Reuters agency, citing industry analysts, noticed that in order to effectively eliminate the export of Iranian oil, the United States would have to impose secondary sanctions on entities such as Chinese banks, which facilitate the purchase of Iranian oil.
