At the end of last year, Aleix Espargaro (35 years old) ended his Motogp pilot career, assuming the role of test pilot for Aprilia. In parallel, he joined the Lidl-Retk cycling team, already participating in some professional competitions.
This weekend, however, he will return to the Start Motogp grid, participating following a Wildcard at the Grand Prize of Spain. Before the start of the competitive weekend in Jerez, Espargaro said he feels a cyclist rather than Motogp pilot.

Aleix Espargaro will return to the MotoGP circuit
“I feel more cyclist than Motogp pilot, because I spend a lot more time on a bicycle. But I will always be a pilot and I am proud to wear the Honda colors. At the same time, it is also a great responsibility. Competitions were not in my plans, but it is true that there is no better testing ground.
I will probably participate with Wildcard once more, but I do not plan more. I watched the first race in Thailand on the couch. Then I realized that I made the right decision.
My motorcycle will not be the same as Joan Mir and Luca Marini (Honda official pilots) this weekend. I have a lot of new things. I hope to prove that it is a little stronger and that they will receive them soon. Honda works constantly to improve her motorcycle.
It's just a matter of time until it happens. I hope, over time, to build a name and gain the respect of the pilots. The most important thing is for Joan and Luca to appreciate my work, “said Aleix Espargaro, according to Sportal.bg.
Aleix Espargaro has 255 races to the active in Motogp
