During the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Romanian Football Federation that took place today, April 24, the president of the Bucharest forum, Răzvan Burleanu, announced the change of “Rule 5+6” from the future competitive season.
In the current championship edition, “Rule 5+6” for the first two stages implies that a team has, throughout the match, at least 5 players trained at national level, Romanian or who have the right to play in the Romanian national. The rule is meant to motivate the clubs to use at least five Romanian players simultaneously at each match in Superliga.
It was announced since last year that the rule would be modified for the 2025-2026 edition.
During the Thursday afternoon meeting, Burleanu announced what the changes for the future season provide.

What will the “rule 5+6” look like next season will look
According to the announcement made from FRF, “Rule 5+6” for season 2025-2026 will look like this:
-
There are 5 Romanian players on the field, including a U21 player, throughout the match;
-
If there are three Romanian U21 players throughout the match, the others can be foreigners;
-
If there are two U21 players on the field, there must be minimum two other Romanians;
-
If you remove an U21 player in the last two cases and do not replace them with U21 players, two other Romanians must be introduced.
At the end of the regular season, 5 teams remained in the race for the money from “Rule 5+6”
At the end of the regular seasononly five bands remained in the race for the fund of 2 million euros provided by UEFA.
The norm is applied only for the championship, not in the Romanian Cup, respectively Super Cup, and of the 5 bands, the best ranked 3 of them will be rewarded with about 700,000 euros.
Qualified in the play-off, FCSB and U Cluj will not have emotions regarding the competition, as they will be higher in the hierarchy after the last stage. All they will have to do will be to remain the faithful of the principle they have followed so far.
Fast, Dinamo, Unirea Slobozia, Steel, Sepsi and Poli Iași They did not register in fighting in the current season, so they violated the rule from the first stage.
Instead, UTA abandoned in the second round, while Craiova University and CFR Cluj gave up in the third round. During the course, FC Botosani (7th stage) and Gloria Buzău (12th stage) followed.
