The Romanian authorities confiscated 20 kilograms of ketamine, hidden in packages with clothes from the Netherlands and intended for the Australian market. The main suspect is currently under arrest in Germany.

Anti -drug police in Iasi, together with DIICOT prosecutors, have discovered an impressive amount of ketamine, a drug -considered drug, illegally introduced in Romania in the Netherlands. Drugs were intended for the consumer market in Australia.
“The evidence administered in question showed that, during March 2025, a 37-year-old suspect purchased from the Netherlands about 20 kilograms Ketamine, which he introduced to the country in a transport of clothing. The risk drug was hidden inside over 980 envelopes as a desiccant silicon gel for humidity absorption (clothes) and located in 12 boxes containing vests and pants”, Said DIICOT, in an official statement.
According to the same source, the man would have used a forged identity card, as well as several counterfeit documents, which erroneously attests to act on behalf of a company for consumer goods. These acts would have been used to mask the true nature of transport.
“The documents of criminal prosecution revealed that the suspect benefited from the help of a family member, who supported in the criminal activity, the 34 -year -old suspect realizing the transport, in various locations, of the packages in which the risk drug was. The main suspect was detained in Germany, where he was found in April on a highway, while traveling with another Romanian citizen. About 2.5 kilograms of drugs were found on the two, which is why the German authorities ordered the man's arrest.
The investigations continue in a complex file, which concerns several offenses: the illegal introduction into the country of risk drugs, drug trafficking, false in official documents and under private signature, as well as use of false, all in continuous form.
The authorities specify that during the entire criminal trial, the investigated persons benefit from the presumption of innocence.
