In March, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave Donald Trump a mysterious portrait of the US president. The painting was delivered by Trump's special emissary for Russia, Steve Witkoff, who, in an interview with the American journalist Tucker Carlson, described as “a wonderful portrait”, made by a “Russian artist”, writes CNN.

Trump, Witkoff added, was “clearly moved” by this portrait.

But the portrait itself has not been publicly revealed.

The artist behind the work of art commanded by Kremlin has now offered the American television station some details about this painting.

The painting given to the US President shows Trump, raising his fist on stage after the failed assassination attempt, from his Butler's meeting, Pennsylvania, July 2024, and is Nikas Safronov, one of the most famous artists in Russia, the Kremlin confirmed to CNN.

“It was important for me to show blood, scar and courage during his life. He did not give up and did not scare, but he raised his arm to show that he is with America and will bring him back what he deserves,” the artist told the American news station, in Moscow.

Safronov is not alien to making portraits of world leaders, after painting dozens of important figures, including the late Pope Francis, India Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and the leader Kim Jong a North Korea.

For the portrait of the US president, Safronov said he was “visited by some people who told me they want to paint Trump as I see him.” Safronov did not initially know who his “visitors” were, he added, explaining that, as a well -known artist, “there are clients who do not go into details” – but he acknowledged that it was Kremlin.

“When I started the portrait, I realized that this could bring our countries closer and I decided not to ask for money because I suspected what this painting is,” said the artist.

Later, however, he told, he was contacted by Putin himself, who told him that Trump's flattering portrait is an important step in improving Russia with the United States.

The Kremlin did not respond immediately to a request to make details on this subject.

The portrait that was given to Trump by Putin, through Witkoff, is similar to a painting that is now in the big white house, after an official portrait of former President Barack Obama was moved from that place.

Trump's dramatic image raising his right fist, with a blood -sprayed face, became an emblem of force in his presidential campaign.
