The signature under a bridging agreement on the atom is a formality. The new agreement with the US companies will improve the position of Polish nuclear power plants – said Deputy Minister of Industry, Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Wojciech Wrochna in Friday's “Rzeczpospolita”.

Wrochna, when asked by “Rz” at what stage is to attach a bridging agreement with the Americans, which concerns the further implementation of the nuclear project, replies that “we will officially sign a bridging agreement in April.

He adds that “this is a formality, because at the end of March we have reached an agreement as to the conditions of continuing cooperation and now the process of obtaining all necessary corporate consents is underway, both on the part of Polish nuclear power plants (PEJ) and the Westinghouse – Bechtel consortium, which is necessary for this contract to formally be effectively binding.”

“At the same time, we continue the implementation of tasks commissioned under the previous contract so that there are no delays in the power plant design process,” the deputy head of the ministry points out.

Asked if it was certain that the agreement will not change before the proper signing, Wrochna informs that “a meeting of the control committee took place, which formally approved all key provisions of the contract.” (PAP)
