The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected, on Thursday, the appeal made by the USR against the decision by which the Central Electoral Bureau has established that the party cannot campaign for Nicușor Dan. Thus, the formation will not be able to use money to support the independent candidate in the presidential race.
Elena Lasconi, who was present on Wednesday in the courtroom, welcomed the decision on Thursday by the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
“I have the courage to do justice and saw in this case. The truth was on my side. It was not an easy struggle, but it was necessary. For me, for the people who believe in me and for the democratic values I defend. We cannot fight democracy, especially not in the USR, a party that was born from the street,”
She thanked her lawyers and team, but “especially to all those who were with me with a message, with a good word, with confidence.”
“This decision is not only a moral repair, but also a clear signal that justice can be done in Romania when you have courage and do not deviate from the principles,” concluded Elena Lasconi.
