Diplomatic marathon in Paris. Emmanuel Macron: Everyone wants peace


On Thursday, an international meeting was held at the Elysee Palace, which French President Emmanuel Macron described as an important opportunity to achieve a consensus in the matter of peace in Ukraine. The talks were attended by representatives of the USA, Ukraine, Germany and Francewhich created a special platform for discussion on the possibility of restoring stability in the region.
“I think everyone wants peace – solid and durable” – noted the French leader, opening the meeting with the participation of the Secretary of State of the US Marc Rubio and the special envoy of the White House Steve Witkoff.

Although it was initially planned that the meetings would start at 15., according to the newspaper “Le Monde” The first talks took place only at 18. The discussion was also attended by a special US representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg and advisers for the national security of Germany and Great Britain – Jens Ploetner and Jonathan Powell.
The Ukrainian side was represented by the head of the Chancellery of President Volodymyr Zelnski Andriy Jermak, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrija Sybiha and the head of the Ministry of Defense Rustami Umierow. The role of the host and moderator was served by the Minister of Europe and Diplomacy of France Jean-Noel Barrot.

Talks, which were of an intensive diplomatic marathon, took place in changing warehouses and in various groups of representatives. As the sources report, the arrival of the Ukrainian delegation was not previously announced, and their presence was announced only on Thursday morning. The meeting emphasized the determination of the parties to search for new diplomatic paths to the prolonged conflict in Ukraine.
