The 13th National Maritime Law Conference took place at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk. The event is devoted to selected issues related to the development of marine wind energy from a Polish perspective.

The president of the Polish Wind Energy Chamber reminded that at the end of last year Polish power electricity networks recorded the presence in the Polish 72 GW power system, i.e. 72 thousand. MW installed electrical power.

“Sea wind farms until 2040 – and in practice much earlier, because I think that around 2036-2037, i.e. in 12 years – they will give the Polish power system 18 gw. If we compared this to today's state of the Polish national electrical system, it will be 1/4 of the increase in power installed with a very high quality level,” explained Budzyński.

In his opinion, the Wind Energy Energy, although it is a well -located industry in the technological, industrial and economic landscape in Western Europe, is still an innovation in Poland. During the conference, he argued that the development of this sector is an opportunity not only for education at a higher, academic level, but – as he pointed out – it is also a “powerful opportunity for a similar renaissance of technical and vocational education.”

Pomeranian deputy voivode Emil Rojek, present at the event, emphasized that the construction of wind farms is an undertaking of enormous meaning and momentum. “Actually, since the construction of Gdynia, there was no such great, but also a costly undertaking in the field of maritime economy,” he said.

MEP Magdalena Adamowicz said that strengthening the competitiveness of the European Union economy through the development of sustainable energy sources is one of the key tasks of the new European Commission, which emphasizes that energy transformation is a must.

“We must also be realistic in adapting the potentials and we strive. We can see some mistakes too restrictive and quick regulations of the previous term, from which we will not withdraw, but we will certainly slow down a bit” – emphasized Adamowicz. (PAP)
