Sumî region, the most vulnerable point of the front. Russia could force a breach in Ukrainian defense

The northeast front of Ukraine, especially the Sumî region, could soon become the epicenter of a new Russian offensive wave, warns experts quoted by the British daily The Telegraph. Against the background of the gradual withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the proximity of the Russian Kursk region, the specialists believe that Russia has the highest chances of entering the defensive lines of Kiev.

According to a Ukrainian military man interviewed by the British publication, the withdrawal from the contact area has been made under difficult conditions, at night and in small groups, of three to four people, with the abandonment of part of the military equipment. This defensive movement highlights the increasing pressure exerted by Russian forces in the north of the country.

The Telegraph notes that, in the event that Moscow was able to take control over the Sumî and Kharkov regions, a scenario considered worrying both by President Volodimir Zelenski and the G7 leaders, this advance could strengthen the negotiation position of Vladimir Putin in possible diplomatic discussions.

The supreme commander of the Ukrainian army, General Oleksandr Sîrski, recently confirmed that the Russian offensive is already in progress, signaling that in recent weeks the intensity of the attacks has doubled. However, The Telegraph suggests that some of these warnings could also play a strategic role – to bring to the attention of the Trump administration the prospect of a peace agreement, which is currently outside the political agenda of the former US president.

John Hardie, deputy director of the Russian Program within the Democracy Foundation, brings a balance note. In his opinion, the current Russian operations remain, for the time being, limited in extent, being carried out by small assault groups. “Even if they succeed in a local piercing of the Ukrainian defense, the Russians do not have the ability to transform that weak point into an operational or significant advancement,” explains the expert.

In this context, the vulnerability of the Sumî region is not only a tactical problem, but also a geopolitical one-a possible test of the Western reaction and international solidarity at a key moment of the Ukraine.

The Russians rage the Kharkov region and try to penetrate the sum

On Saturday morning, April 12, four people were injured as a result of Russian attacks on the city of Kharkov and the neighboring village Slatine, the authorities of the Kharkov Regional Prosecutor's Office reported on the Telegram channel.

“At about 06:50, the Russian armed forces launched air attacks on the village of Slatine in the Kharkov region. Two guided bombs hit a residential area, destroying at least seven houses,” is shown in the official statement.

The rescue teams removed a 68 -year -old man. He suffered injuries and is in stable condition. Two other men were injured by skiing, according to the Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Previously, around 4:10 in the morning, Russian attack drones targeted a unit in the Nemișlanski district of Kharkov. A 57 -year -old guard was injured as a result of this attack.

Saturday morning attacks were just the latest in a series of drones and bombardments with artillery cannons, which destroyed houses, vehicles and infrastructure throughout the Kharkov region of northeast Ukraine, on Friday and Saturday.

Russia is preparing for an attack in the Kharkov region, warns the Ukrainian army

The Russian forces are regrouped and prepared for a new offensive in the Kharkov region, according to the Ukrainian operational-strategic group “Horture”.

In an official statement on April 12, “HortitSia” said that, although no offensive actions were held from the Russian troops in the direction of Kharkov in the last 24 hours, they are active in completing their units and are preparing to relaunch offensive operations in the region.

In the Kupiansk area, Ukrainian troops rejected Russian attacks near Kindraşivka, Kamianka and Zahrizove. A mechanized assault involving five armored vehicles near Lozova and Nova Kruhliakivka was stopped.

The Russian forces also launched attacks in the liman sector, on the border of Luhansk and Donetsk regions, aimed at Novoiehorivka, Hrekivka, Olhivka, Rickodub, Hlușcenkove, Novomihailivka, Iapolivka, Torske and Nove. All Russian advances were rejected. The Russian units failed to gain ground in the Serebrianski forest.

In the directions of Kramatorsk and Torețk, in the Donetk region, various intensity assault actions were held near the pre-towed, Orihovo-Vasilivka, Ciasiv, Drujba, Dilivka and Torețk, without loss of position from Ukraine.

The Russian forces continued to try to penetrate the Ukrainian defense in the direction of Pokrovsk, attacking to Iallizavetivka, Zvirove, Preobrajenka, Kotliarivka, Oleksivka, Pișciana, Udacine, Lisivka, NovoSrserta and Andriivka.

According to Ukraine's chief commander, Oleksandr Sîrski, Russia's personal losses exceeded 140,000 soldiers (140,650) since the beginning of the war.

Russian assault groups are trying to penetrate the Sumî region

Vadim Misnik, the spokesman of the “Sork” Tactical Tactical Group, said that Russian occupation troops concentrate a significant number of forces in the Kursk region, to enter the territory of the Sumî region, using the shoes, the recognition teams and small infantry groups.

Misnik stressed that the Russians are trying to focus on the border settlements and identify the vulnerabilities of Ukrainian defense. At the same time, he mentioned that Ukraine's armed forces reject these attempts to enter the Ukrainian territory.

According to him, the Ukrainian intelligence services carefully monitor the movements of military equipment and Russian troops.

“The movements of the military equipment are problematic, we do not allow the occupants to actively use them on the border area, we immediately detect them and we destroy them as far as possible,” Misnik added.

The chief commander of Ukraine's armed forces, Oleksandr Sîrski, said that the spring offensive of the Russian Federation on the Sumî and Kharkov regions has already started effectively.

The “gray” area between Juravka and Basivka villages, in the Sumî region, has expanded. This area includes the village of Meriivka and the proximity of Volodimirivka. The Russian Defense Ministry has announced that the Russian troops would have conquered the Basivka border village. However, the spokesman of the Ukraine's Border Guard Service, Andri Demcenko, confirmed that Basivka is not under Russia's control. According to Deeptate, the invaders gather forces in Basivka and try to create a support point there.
