“My story is one about perseverance, generosity and modesty. I was born on July 2, 1990, in Midwest-more precisely, in Middletown, Ohio. Although now I live in Florida, I am proudly representing my origins and I still remember Mimi's kitchen and its freezer always filled with Graeter's.
“My entrance to the world of martial arts was quite simple – maybe even comical? One day, when I was a kid, I saw an advertisement on television. Shortly thereafter, I started running around the house and breaking things full of energy. A major change in her career came in the summer of 2012, in London, when Kayla Harrison became the first American “who did what seemed impossible”, as she even says.
“I won the first gold medal in Judo for our country at the Olympic Games, defeating the local heroine, Gemma Gibbons. I repeated the victory in 2016, in Rio de Janeiro, where I defeated Audrey Tcheuméo in France and I won my second gold medal,” Kayla says.

“The years spent in my Olympic career will always remain among my dearest memories – the ups and downs and, of course, everything people have not seen behind the scenes. What followed after the withdrawal from judo? “We went to a new, but familiar world – that of mixed martial arts, known as MMA. I made your debut in Professional Fighters League (PFL) in the 2018 season,” says Kayla.

How did Kayla reveal to the public she was abused? “It was my best decision”
Kayla Harrison (34) wrote a book entitled Fighting Back. “I wanted to share my story and educate people about how to recognize and prevent sexual abuse of children, as well as to offer resources to help abused children recover and heal,” she explains.
