“Now or never”. French are in a hurry to buy Harley-Davidson motorcycles before possible customs rates

Sales are intense at the Harley-Davidson dealer in Villiers-Marne, near Paris, where French motorcyclists believe it is the perfect time to buy their dream motorcycle, before a possible commercial war to make it inaccessible, reports Reuters, quoted by News.ro.

“Now or never,” said Stéphane Roger, a 55 -year -old carpenter, while inspecting the bright motorcycles in the showroom. He said he was already thinking of buying a Harley, but when he heard about the tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, it was decided to hurry.

The motorcycles are on the list of American products that could be hit by the European customs tariffs announced this week, as a reaction to Trump's commercial measures. Although the US leader took a step back on rates, the EU temporarily suspended their own taxes, but warned that they could apply them if the negotiations fail.

“Yes, I think it's time to buy a Harley. If the rates will increase the price, it will no longer be accessible to ordinary people. It will become a luxury for Elite,” said Theo Mottet, a 30 -year -old French soldier.

Jean-Luc Peschel, a 65-year-old retired musician, dressed in a leather jacket and a red scarf around his neck, said Harley evokes an entire American world dreamed of since childhood.

“I am an old man. Harley-Davidson marked my childhood. American films make you dream, and I think people need to dream, especially today,” he said.
