The document says that in connection with China's retaliation and Beijing raising customs duties on goods from the USA to 84 percent, the American duty rate for goods from China was increased from 84 to 125 percent. In conjunction with the 20 % duty imposed earlier, aimed at curling fentanyl smuggling, this gives a total of 145 percent.

From 90 to 120 percent The duty also increased for low value packages (up to $ 800) from China, which will affect orders from e-commerce platforms such as this and Shein. Until Saturday, such goods were not subject to any tests.

At the same time, the presidential decree talks about the suspension of increased duties to the remaining 56 countries covered by a higher rate until July 9. The minimum customs rate for imports from around the world is still in force in the amount of 10 percent.

The increase in duties for goods from China announced by Trump on Wednesday is the last blow in the Washington trade war with Beijing. Initially, the PRC was to be covered by a duty of 34 percent. (in addition to 20 % related to fentanyl), but after the retaliation of Beijing, the tariff was raised first to 84 percent, and then 125 percent.

On Wednesday, Trump said that further increases would not be needed. He also predicted that China wanted to conclude a system, but they are a “proud nation”, and the chairman of the PRC XI Jinping “proud man” and “do not know how to go about it.”
