Miners' protest in Bogdance. “Enea's strategy does not match the interests of the mine”

Government guarantees to maintain the extraction and sale of coal from the Bogdance (Lublin) mine were demanded by miners, who on Tuesday manifested on pl. Lithuanian in Lublin. Voivode Krzysztof Komorski reassured that there were no plans to liquidate the mine.

The delegation of trade unions from Bogdanka gave the Lublin voivode Krzysztof Komorski a list of postulates addressed to Prime Minister Donald Tusk. In a letter to the head of the government, miners demand a “fair transformation”, which can be implemented “only on the basis of a plan” agreed by the parties. The government would be a guarantor of making such a plan and guaranteeing the funds needed for its implementation.
Trade unionists expect it to guarantee “honest competition on the coal market”. In the absence of such a guarantee, they want the mine to be covered by “state guarantees to maintain and sell at the same level”. “Therefore, the State Treasury will take over the majority participation of LW + Bogdanka + SA” – they wrote.
Miners are also demanding the amendment to the Act on the functioning of mining and taking it in the Bogdance mine.
The Lublin voivode declared that a letter with demands would go to the prime minister and all other interested ministers.
Komorski emphasized that “there was no, there is no plans to liquidate Lublin coal +Bogdanka +”, which – said – is one of the most important workplaces in the region. “The workplace will not be liquidated,” he assured. He reminded that on March 27, during the meeting in Łęczna, this was confirmed by industry minister Marzena Czarnecka and deputy minister of state assets Robert Kropiwnicki.
Most likely after the holidays – said Komorski – a meeting will be organized, which aims to collect key investments and postulates related to the functioning of the LW “Bogdanka”.
The chairman of the “Remotion” Trade Union in Bogdance Jarosław Niemiec during an earlier press conference cited a new strategy of the Enea group from November last year, which assumes that the consumption of coal in the group's assets is to amount to 4.5 million tonnes in 2030 and 2.3 million tons in 2035. “This is the fact that it all indicates that a very future future” – he said. “
Enea groups include Enea Wytwarzanie and Enea Połaniec, which are the main recipients of coal from Bogdanka. From published in January this year. Preliminary financial results of the mine show that the production of commercial coal in 2024 was 7.9 million tons, and sales 8.1 million tons.
“The strategy announced by the ENEA Capital Group does not match the interest of Bogdanka,” said the chairman of the “Kadra” Trade Union Artur Brzozowski. He added that the Tuesday manifestation was organized to defend the organizational and decision -making mine independence.
The chairman of NSZZ “Solidarność” in Bogdance Mariusz Romańczuk estimated that the liquidation of the mine means migration of approx. 32 thousand. people from the seven-ech of poviats of the Lublin Province.
As the chairman of the miners' trade union argued Jacek Świrszcz, Bogdanka is a patron of culture, sport and one of the companies that “keep this whole region alive.” After the speeches, the participants went to the Lublin Voivodship Office, a few hundred meters away, where they finished the picket.
According to the police, about 1,000 people took part in the demonstration, while trade unionists talk about about 3,000 protesters.
LW “Bogdanka” is a producer of hard coal, whose recipients are, among others Industrial companies, including entities operating in the electricity industry in eastern and north-eastern Poland. Bogdanka is a joint -stock company listed on the WSE since 2009. In 2015, it became part of the Enea Capital Group controlled by the State Treasury with its registered office in Poznań, which has almost 65 percent. mine shares.
Discussions about the future of Bogdanka intensified in January this year, when four trade unionists carried out a hunger protest against the subordination of the Enea mine and its liquidation.
On March 27, during the next meeting with miners, local government officials, MPs, representatives of the mine and Enea, Minister of Industry Marzena Czarnecka told the media that “it was once again established that the Lublin Mine in Lublin Coal + Bogdanka + would not be liquidated.”
Deputy Minister of State Asset Robert Kropiwnicki after talks also pointed out that “today there are no ideas to close Lublin coal”, and the functioning of the mine in the perspective of 10-15 years is “absolutely safe”. In his opinion, reports of limiting and threat to its functioning are “absolute lie”.
Kropiwnicki also reported that the location of the mine at Enea is a “very good solution” and there is no idea to buy it by the State Treasury.
On Friday, the board of the LW “Bogdanka” announced that he was not planning to liquidate the mine in the coming years. “The developed update of the company's strategy with a perspective until 2035 does not provide for such activities,” it was announced.
According to the mine management, work on updating the company's strategy “was almost completed, but it is still subject to final verification due to the dynamically changing market and regulatory environment.”
On Wednesday, the company has planned a publication of an individual and consolidated annual report for 2024 (PAP)
