Valeriu Iftime (64 years old), the owner of FC Botosani and the president of the Botosani County Council, spoke about the new stadium to be built in the city. He solved some problems he had with Mayor Cosmin Andrei, due to the delays in lifting the arena, but now he has other difficulties, due to the financial situation.

Specifically, he says that the project for building a new stadium in Botosani will be blocked at least a year, and believes that it will be in other cities in the country, due to lack of funds.

Lately, Iftime has been in conflict with the city's mayor, but it seems that they have reached an agreement and for the moment will bring improvements to the current arena.

“After several attempts of mine, I even gave the palm. There were some delays from the town hall for the new stadium, document deposits and more, we discussed, but we can do nothing this year, It is more financially complicated for this country and it is hard for this year to build the stadium. I had a warm discussion with him, he accepted that things should be done. I hope we do it, we are in a normal area.

In my opinion, you can only make documents this year and I think many stadiums will be interrupted this year. There is a big financial problem for Romania and the expenses that are not urgent and do not produce money, it may be a little delayed.

(No – so say it would be a problem with the Dinamo, Timișoara or Constanța stadiums?) That's how I think! I think all will be affected, Romania has no money now. There are mature contracts that need to be completed, this is the theme, I think the Ministry of Development is doing well. New contracts is difficult to start this year and those that are not very, very important could be a little drawn to the right. I think so”, Said Valeriu Iftime, for Sport.ro.

The project on the new stadium in Botosani appeared two years ago, and the arena that will be built in the north of the country would have between 8,000 and 10,000 seats.

Botosani would move out of town

Valeriu Iftime said a few days ago that would move the team to Suceava or Iasiprovided that the “municipal” in the city needs modernization works.

“We need a stadium. I spoke to the mayor now and he told me for the first time:” Yes, it can be done in stages, you can bid construction + design. “It is also a matter related to the opinion that the Federation gives us to play in Botosani.

If we do not change the lawn and the locker rooms we can have big problems for licensing, so it is clear that we have to move elsewhere. Under these conditions, the discussion with the departure from Botosani is very true. And in Dumbrăveni (no – commune in Suceava) there are solutions, there could be a stadium. But there are discussions with Suceava City Hall and Iași City Hall. So in this area we have to find … “, said Iftime said in a clip published by journalist Bogdan Caliniuc.

These days I took an important step in modernizing the stadium. I started the discussions with the mayor Cosmin Andrei about the replacement of the lawn and the arrangement of a locker room that will rise to the standards of players who are hard for performance. We cannot expect performance if we do not invest under conditions.

The results appear when the effort behind them is supported and I am going to emphasize where it matters: facilities and everything that gives players the chance to grow. Through such investments, not only do we show respect for all our athletes, but also to all sports lovers and our community who will carry out other events here.

I am glad that we have reached a consensus and that we will have the support of the town hall. Only when we work as a team and pull in the same direction, can we make things move.
