The opposition mayor of Imbul Ekrem Imamoglu was detained on suspicion of corruption. The authorities banned any events in the city until March 23 and limited access to social networks.
According to local media, searches were held in the mayor’s house. Imamoglu and about 100 more are suspected of bribery, fraud and bribery, as well as illegal tenders in municipalities. According to investigators, Imamoglu and several businessmen received illegal profit, laundered money and transferred funds to a secret account.

The Imamoglu has been holding the mayor of Istanbul since June 2019. He was called the main opponent of the current president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan in case of re -nomination for post.
