Corn is the basic food product of the poorest families in North Korea. Currently, for a kilo of this vegetable in the capital you have to pay 4 thousand. won (over PLN 17). It's over 33 percent more than last year.
The goods whose price has dropped in the last 12 months is wheat flour imported from Russia. Currently a kilo costs about 9.5 thousand won (over PLN 32). It's almost 8 percent less than at the end of March 2024.

How much do employees in North Korea earn?
North Korea is so -called central planning economy. In practice, this means that the prices of basic products, their availability and the amount of official wages in the country are regulated by the party and the Kim Jong Una regime. Instead of developing the economy and services, the authorities invest in the arms industry and the army.
According to various sources, the average monthly earnings in North Korea are 5-10 thousand. won (PLN 21-43). Even adding to this introduced in October 2024 10 % Salary increases, the best earning for payment, can buy just over a kilo of flour or a kilo of rice.
