An artist who made the official portrait of President Donald Trump was publicly criticized by the president, his comments “affecting his business”.
The British artist Sarah a Boardman painted Trump's official portrait for the Gallery of Presidents in Denver State Capitol, writes the BBC
In January, Trump described the portrait of Boardman as “really the worst” in a post on Social Truth, adding that it was distorted and that the artist lost his talent as he aged. Subsequently, the painting was eliminated.
In a statement, Mrs. Boardman said that her business is now in “danger not to recover.”
“President Trump has the right to comment freely, as we all have this right, but the additional accusations that I have” intentionally distorted “the portrait and that” I have to lose my talent as I have aged “it now directly and negatively affects my business for over 41 years, which is now in danger,” she said.
The painting was ordered by the Advisory Committee of the State Capitol in Colorado in Denver.
She said that, in the six years, the portrait hanging in the Rotonda of Colorado State Capitol Building, received “reviews and overwhelmingly positive feedback.”
“Since President Trump's comments, this has changed into something very bad,” she added.
“We have completed the portrait with accuracy, without” intentional distortions “, political bias or any attempt to caricature the subject. I have performed the task according to my contract. ”
The US president pays special attention to cultivating his image, and Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, confirmed that he received a new painting by Trump from Moscow, which he described as a “beautiful portrait” of a “Russian leading artist”.
