The main challenges of Ukrainian metallurgy – personnel deficit, European eco -tax …

The main challenges of Ukrainian metallurgy are personnel deficit, European eco -tax and tariffs of state monopolies.
Last year, metallurgy brought more than 8 billion foreign exchange earnings to Ukraine.
But this year, such a result may not be – because already existing military risks, as well as difficulties with logistics and energy, metallurgs are expecting new problems this year – with personnel, European ecological duty of SVAM and Ukrzaliznytsia tariffs.
The Group CEO Yuri Ryzhenkov told this at the 2025 exporters' summit from the Forbes Ukraine magazine.
In order to help the metallurgists overcome these risks, the state must create a clear booking mechanism, delay the introduction of SVAM for Ukraine and hold back the tariffs of state monopolies that traditionally subsidize their unprofitable areas at the expense of Ukrainian business.
Metallurgs bring more than billions of foreign exchange earnings every year, and they can be even more – if the state helps them to master new markets and provide conditions for growth, says Ryzhenkov.
