A ballistic missile attack launched by Russia on the Ukrainian city of Krivoi ROG, on Friday night, hit a residential area, at least 18 people being killed, including nine children, transmit AFP and Reuters. Another 50 people were injured.
It is one of the worst attacks of the last few weeks in Ukraine. President Volodimir Zelenski, originally from this industrial city, has denounced an act that shows that Moscow “does not want to stop fire”.
After midnight, the local authorities reported that the number of the dead increased to 18, and nine of them are children.
Also, the number of injured persons reached 56, at least 30 of them being hospitalized.
The anterior balance provided by the authorities indicates at least 16 dead, including six children, and over 50 injured in this bombardment of Russian forces.
Moscow claims to have targeted a military assembly
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that the launched rocket aimed at a meeting of Ukrainian military and foreign instructors in Krivoi ROG and that he has killed up to 85 people.
“As a result of the blow, the losses of the enemy amount to a total of 85 soldiers and officers from foreign countries, as well as up to 20 military vehicles,” the Russian ministry said on a post on Telegram.
According to the Ukrainian authorities, at least 14 people were killed in the Krivoi's Krivoi attack, including six children.
Regarding the more than 50 injured, the regional governor Serhii Lysak said that at least 30 have already been transported to the hospital and many of them are now in operation.
Among the wounded are numerous children, the youngest of them being three months.
According to the head of the local military administration, Oleksandr Vilkul, the Russian forces launched a “ballistic missile” in the center of a residential area.
The rocket fell near a children's playground, reports Ukrainska Pravda and Kyiv Independent. In fact, at least five of the people killed were children, according to local authorities.
Fire broke out in the city following the attack, and several blocks of housing were damaged.
In the many images distributed on social networks, bodies of the deceased or injured could be seen lying on the sidewalks, one of them right next to a playground, Reuters mentions.

Zelenski's reaction: “Russia does not want a cessation of fire. The whole world sees this”
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, originally from this industrial city, denounced the attack, mentioning that six children were killed.

Krivoi Rog, located in the Dnipropetrovsk region of the south of the country, is the hometown of President Volodimir Zelenski.
