The dead American soldier was found in the Lithuanian swamp on the border with Belarus. He and his three colleagues drowned on an armored car during the exercises.
On March 25, at the Palace training ground during a task for repairing and evacuating an armored repair and evacuation machine, the M88A2 Hercules (in the last photo) disappeared four American soldiers of the 1st brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division. The comrades drove into the swampy terrain, got bogged down, and the car went under the water. The armored car was found on the 27th. The crew is only three days later.
The last member of the detachment was searched in the area of the training ground at a military helicopter, with drones, construction equipment and in the company of two service dogs of the Estonian military police.
The Chairman of the Fund for Restoration and Protection of the Swamps Neriaus Zabletlets said that the swamps in which the armored car sank was not on the map.
