The Capital Police said on Friday night that the statements made by Monica Tatoiu according to which she was “spit and threatened” in front of the police after trying to stop a Roma wedding “does not reflect the factual reality of the incident.”
The Capital Police sent details on Friday evening, after Monica Tatoiu claimed on Facebook that she was threatened, writes News.ro.
“I was spit and threatened in a mafia style because I tried to stop a traditional Roma wedding in the capital's belly in front of the police. With cars of hundreds of thousands of euros parked illegally.
“The information is false and does not reflect the factual reality of the incident,” the Capital Police said instead.
Thus, police officers from the General Police Directorate of Bucharest-Police Section 2 were notified, on Friday, by call 112, about the fact that the public order and peace are disturbed on a street in Sector 1. There were several police crews, who intervened to prevent a conflict and to restore public order.
“From the first checks, it turned out that the woman would have intervened verbally, before reaching the police crews, requesting the cessation of an event, as affected the peace of the tenants in the area. The event referred to took place in the private courtyard of some people, being a wedding organized in the family. The owners did not file a criminal complaint ”, said the Capital Police.

Police officers from Section 2, together with police officers of the Road Brigade, acted in the area, and following the requests made by the police, the cars parked irregularly were moved, the owners complying immediately.
Also, following the intervention, three contraventional sanctions were applied, worth 11,000 lei, for disturbing public order and peace.
“No other incidents or facts were registered to meet the constituent elements of an offense. We mention that the woman did not inform the police, at the time of the intervention, the fact that she was threatened and did not file a complaint in this regard. In this context, the statements in the public space, to the authorities, are not reflected,” intervened promptly and applied the legal measures provided by the legislation in force.
The police also want to remind that “every citizen has the right to address the state institutions when he considers that his rights have been violated, but direct actions against other citizens, without legal basis, can climb unjustified and disrupt public order.”
