This provision is to apply for seven months a year when the most tourists arrive in the city. There is financial penalties for its violation.

In response to the mayor's decision, a committee called the right to sleep was established. His initiator Vincenzo Rao said on television: – “Please respect our right to sleep; it's a matter of health and a peaceful life.”

– This regulation obliges us to wake up in the middle of the night. Something like this is nowhere else in Italy – noted one of the activists of the Maurizio Andreano committee.

Committee members emphasized that the duty of throwing garbage at night also applies to the elderly and those who have young children.

– We did not choose the commander, but the mayor – added councilman Luca Manuli. He announced that a group of deputies to the City Council would demand the extension of the hours in which you can throw away garbage.

The media noted that the mayor does not intend to change his decision and argues: – The whole world comes to Taormina, which cannot present itself as a dirty city.
