“The stings matter less. It has been performed in my mandate”

After taking over the leadership of the Romanian national, Mircea Lucescu criticized the way the team presented in Euro 2024 under the command of Edward Iordănescu. Lucescu's statements have aroused reactions even from Anghel Iordănescu.

Asked about the “stings” coming from Lucescu, the coach of the Legia reminded the successful performances of national under his command.

“Romania has performed in my mandate. I had some goals and I have achieved them. If someone expects that, after 8 years of drought, Romania will win a group without fail and play total football, it was impossible. I prioritized certain things, I did a complex analysis, I understood where I was suffering – the national team received many goals.

I tried that including talented players – MAN, Coman – to be players to run 11 kilometers and they were making slipping to help the team. It was hard to strengthen and stabilize. I considered that in a short time, this is the thing I can do.
