The clerk of the Swedish prime minister left the toilet at the Arlanda airport in Stockholm in 2022. A briefcase with secret documents about the entrance of Sweden to NATO after a state visit to Turkey in Turkey – revealed on Tuesday the newspaper “Dagens Nyheter”.
According to the greatest Swedish daily, the documents related to the talks of Sweden Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan were found by a cleaner.
This is another slip -up of this kind revealed by the media. In Stockholm, the trial of the former Kristersson adviser for national security Henrik Landerholm is underway. The high -ranking official resigned in January after “Dagens Nyheter” wrote that he left secret documents in a cabinet in the Congress Center, and earlier – a notebook at the editorial office of the Swedish radio and a telephone at the Hungarian embassy.

The latest revealed carelessness of Kristersson's collaborator, whose personalities were not given, was criticized by the opposition party of the left. This grouping announced the submission of a request for prime minister before the Parliamentary Commission for Constitutional (KU) – a body supervising the work of the government.
Commentator of the newspaper “Aftonbladet” in a playful commentary wrote: “It seems that secret documents are scattered like confetti.” The media in Turkey also write about the case, indicating the failure of the Sweden authorities. The Sozciec portal wonders whether Turkish state secrets could be revealed.
According to the source of “Dagens Nyheter”, an official who left the documents in the toilet did not receive permission to order a taxi, which probably contributed to the incident. The Swedish government office has announced an overview of the applicable safety rules.
Landerholm in court explained with difficult, stressful working conditions. The verdict in this case is to be announced on September 5. The former colleague of the prime minister is punishable by a fine or a year imprisonment. The document left by Landerholm had a secret character and was also associated with negotiations on the road of Sweden to NATO, including contacts with the US authorities. According to the media, in this case the loss was found by a cleaner from Georgia, who has connections with a Russian derived from an extremist Islamist environment.
In November 2022, Prime Minister Kristersson unsuccessfully tried to convince Recep of Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara Turkey to ratify a Swedish request to enter NATO. This happened only in January 2024, and Sweden became a member of the Alliance on March 7, 2024.
