Visit takes place before a crucial election

Moldovan officials have repeatedly accused Russia to mix in internal politics, by which they feed the feelings procedure in trying to overturn the government.
Moscow wants to “control” this country at the border with the European Union and Ukraine “starting this autumn”, through mechanisms of voting and financing with cryptocurrencies, accused the head of the recent Moldovan village.
Also, Sandu has also avoided that the main opposition forces take advantage of this plan in order to deprive the Parliament of a majority to bring this former Soviet Republic of integration in the EU.
For his part, Emmanuel Macron denounced, in a meeting with Maia Sandu on March 10, at the Élysée Palace, “increasingly disinhibited Russian attempts” of the Republic of Moldova and of Moldovan democratic institutions.
