Sam Altman, the Openai CEO, who created Chatgpt, aimed to make Chatbot one of the most used digital platforms in the world, as well as Google, reports the specialized site Barchart.
In an interview offered after the launch of GPT-5, Altman said that Chatgpt has grown at an extraordinary rate, weekly users multiplying four times in a single year, reaching over 700 million people.
“Soon, billions of people will communicate daily with Chatgpt,” Altman said.
“Currently, we are the fifth largest website in the world. I think we are on the right track to reach the third place,” he added.
This goal would mean that Chatgpt will overcome Instagram and Facebook, although Altman has acknowledged that exceeding Google remains a much more difficult challenge.
Quick adoption of Chatgpt emphasizes how conversational artificial intelligence has become an integral part of everyday life. Launched at the end of 2022, Chatgpt evolved from a viral experiment to one of the largest platforms on the Internet in less than three years.
The platform works as a kind of chatbot that answers the user's questions, and the increasingly human conversational tone for helping to connect with ordinary users, beyond those passionate about technology, notes the source.
Altman's bold projection suggests that Openai Vede Chatgpt not only as an instrument, but as an emerging global utility, equal to the largest social and search platforms on the Internet.
