Garry Kasparov, the famous Russian chess and opponent of Vladmir Putin's regime, reacted immediately after Donald Trump, the president of the United States, that his Russian counterpart could come to the 2026 World Championship and released a photo in which the two appear together.
Garry Kasparov, an opponent of the Kremlin regime, immediately commented on the statements and gesture of the president of the United States. Russia is forbidden from all FIFA competitions.
Garry Kasparov reacted after Donald Trump announced a possible presence by Vladimir Putin at the 2026 World Championship: “Put it over the picture with Reagan.”

“It should stick it with adhesive tape over Reagan's portrait in the Oval Office, just to question who really won the Cold War,” Garry Kasparov said on social networks.
“I just received a picture from someone who wants to be very much here. He was very respectful of me and our country, but not as respectful of others.

“I think it will come, depending on what will happen. Maybe it will come, depending on the evolutions. There is many things in the coming weeks. But I thought it was a beautiful photo with him. Well, with me, but also beautiful with him. It was a nice gesture that I was sent to me,” Trump added.
He did not specify whether Putin could participate in the United States, Canada or Mexico matches. The US is expected to host most of the over 100 scheduled parties.
