The Mureș Hoops Legacy Association aims to gather the amount of 80,000 euros for the payment of four foreign players of BC Mureș. CSM Târgu Mureș, considered by Fiba the continuation of the former club, has forbidden for transfers because of this situation.

Ernests Kalve, Aleksandar Mladenovic, Ivan Ivanovic, Aliasandr Pustahvar and Iuri Fraseniuc, former basketball players of BC Mureș, addressed the international courts, asking for the money that this club owes them.

BC Mureș went bankrupt and, later, a new club called CSM Târgu Mureș appeared. The International Federation of Basketball (FIBA) did not accept the arguments of the new team, claiming to have no connection with the former club.

As a result, considered continuing of BC Mureș, CSM Târgu Mureș received a transfer prohibition, valid until he pays Debt of 80,000 euros. The sanction was dictated on February 23, 2023, and the Transylvanians have not yet paid the money, even though they played in the National Men's Basketball League.

The Mureș Hoops Legacy Association set out to raise 80,000 euros: “The team cannot pay”

After more than 2 years, in which CSM Târgu Mureș was based on a team of veterans such as Mladen Jeremic, Goran Martinic, Goran Gajovic or Szabolcs Santa, The Mureș Hoops Legacy Association has started an approach asking for help to raise 80,000 euros.

“The first objective for us is to save the CSM Târgu Mureș male basketball team. As you know, the team is forbidden to transfers due to older debts of the BC Mureș club, which went bankrupt, there is no longer, but those debts were put in the city of Târgu Mureș, in this case, in this case, in this case, Journalist Zoltan Kadar, who with coach Florentina Pora and former referee Zsolt Csiki initiated Mureș Hoops Legacy.

Kadar claims that there is also the option in which CSM Târgu Mureș addresses the Sports Arbitration Court (TAS), but the submission of documents costs around 20,000 Swiss francs and the process can take years to be fatal for the basketball team.

Even if I set up a team and enter the National League, until these debts are paid, they hang on any club in Târgu Mureș, on the city of Târgu Mureș. It is not the fault of the CSM, it is not the fault of the CSU, it is not the fault of the city. It is a fault that formed during the BC Mureș basketball team, which went bankrupt and abolished, ”added Zoltan Kadar, quoted by Agerpres.

At this time, with 4 stages left of the regular season, CSM Târgu Mureș has a balance of 11 wins and 15 defeatsoccupying the 10th position. Less than two weeks ago, the white-blue was close to the surprise in front of U-BT Cluj-Napoca, but they lost at the end: 102-104.
