Google's Gemini model came third in the competition, beating another OPENAI model.

Journalist of the Chess.com Pedro Pinhata chess portal said that until the semi -finals everything indicated the victory of Grok 4. In his opinion it was definitely the “strongest chess player” until the last game. Pinhata stated that the “incomprehensible” and “inept” game of Groka allowed O3 to achieve a series of “convincing victories.”

The American chess grandmaster of Hikaru Nakamura during the broadcast of the finale lived that “the grok made many mistakes, but Otnai did not.”

A chess tournament with the participation of eight artificial intelligence models created by Anthropic, Google, Opeli, Xai, as well as Chinese Deepseek and Moonshot AI creators took place on the Kaggle platform, belonging to Google. The tournament lasted three days. Kaggle is a platform that allows scientists dealing with data to evaluate artificial intelligence systems by competing between them.

The BBC reminded that chess and him are complex strategic games based on rules, which are often used to assess the ability of an artificial intelligence model, including reasoning or coding.
