Withdrawn for years from the public space, Iliescu was present only through a few messages posted on the blog. Your victory expresses a deep aspiration of citizens for a responsible, honest and future management,” writes in the message transmitted by Ion Iliescu on his blog.

The former president of Romania asked the political parties to support Nicușor Dan. “Romania is going through a complex period, with special economic, social and geopolitical challenges. This is why it is essential that all democratic political forces will work, set aside the conflict spirit and support the presidential institution.”
