Bolojan announces the reform of the public administration: “We increase the efficiency of public services and continue decentralization”

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan had a new round of consultations with the representatives of the Association of Municipalities (AMR), during the meetings organized by the Government to prepare the reform of the local public administration.
“We are in the middle of 2025 in a difficult situation, both on the budget deficit component and on the ongoing investment. I started the implementation the first package of measures to reduce expenses budgeting and correcting some imbalances. The data of the Ministry of Finance shows us that we must continue this direction“, The prime minister said.
In this context, Ilie Bolojan said that the executive is preparing a second package of measures, which will include the reform of the public administration. “Our target is to reduce the expenses with the staff of the public administration, to improve the collection of local taxes, to increase the efficiency of public services and to continue decentralization“He pointed out.
Properties taxation and the efficiency of the administrative apparatus
During the discussions, the representatives of the Government and those of the AMR analyzed several essential themes for the planned reform. These include the modification of the property tax system, commitment made by Romania through the National Plan for Resilization and Resilitis (PNRR), reducing the number of employees from the local administration and increasing their professional performance.
It was also discussed about activating a clause according to which “The balancing budgets of the local authorities will be established in proportion to the level of tax collection ””is shown in the Government statement.
Consultations will continue
The government has transmitted that discussions with the local public administration will continue in the next period, in order to finalize the measures.
The Victoria Palace met, together with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Deputy Prime Minister Tánczos Barna, Minister of Development, Cseke Attila-Zoltán, Minister of Labor, Petre-Flor Manole, and the head of the Prime Minister Chancellery, Mihai Jurca.
