55-year-old aboutCareriner-repair of wagons lost a large amount after a call of a false employee of the service organization.
They spoke about the fraudulent scheme in the regional prosecutor's office: in July this year, a man called an employee of Energosbyt called a resident of Dudinka. Under the pretext of replacing electric meters, he lured the codes from SMS from the victim. This was the beginning of a multi -way scam.
A few minutes later, a new call was heard in WhatsApp – this time from the fake employee of Roskomnadzor. The woman on the other end of the wire convinced the victim that the previous call was fraudulent, and the codes threatened all his money. Later, a “Central Bank employee” contacted the man. He convinced him to install a fake application through the link sent, turn on the screen demonstration and enter the PIN code from the bank card.
“Under the guise of a“ transfer to a protected account ”, the scammers wrote out 510 thousand rubles first, and then another 465 thousand rubles. But this seemed a little to them. A new trick was used – allegedly fraudsters are trying to apply for 1.1 million rubles on the victim, and in order to “get ahead of them”, you need to urgently take this money and “transfer to a safe place,” the prosecutor’s office said.
In a week alone, from July 28 to August 3, 201 residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory remotely stole more than 53 million rubles. Since the beginning of the year, 5,618 inhabitants of the region have become victims of Internet criminals. The damage amounted to 1 billion 547 million rubles.
In a matter of hours, another 1.5 million rubles have disappeared from the man’s card, including the loan just received. Even when a false guardian who showed the “certificate” from the video was in contact, the write -offs continued – the last amount amounted to 7 thousand rubles.
Only the next day, when the bank operator asked if the client himself performed these operations, the man realized that he was a victim of scammers.
“Dear citizens! Be careful! Never report passwords, SMS codes and details of cards to anyone – even if the call seems convincing! ”, Law enforcement officers once again remind.
