President Novak resigned in February 2024. The reason for the decision was the disclosed scandal around the pardon of the person convicted of covering pedophilia.

Novak was the youngest President of Hungary after the fall of communism and the first woman in this position. Earlier she occupied, among others The position of the Secretary of State for Family and Youth, and then a minister without a portfolio for the family in the government of Viktor Orban.

As a former president, she is entitled to a lifetime salary of 4.5 million forints (PLN 50,000).
